This page contains lots of information but we tried to consolidate everything you would need to know for the 2022 3M Half Marathon into one page. Some aspects of the event have been modified based on our Mitigation Plan with Austin Public Health. Even with these changes we are planning to provide an awesome experience and are so excited to be back running #DownhilltoDowntown.

Based on the Risk-Based Guidance set by the City of Austin, we are currently in Stage 5.

New Start Times & Procedures

Start Line

  • We will have a time trial start as part of our mitigation plan. Bib Numbers 1-500 will start at 7:30 with other groups following in 5-minute intervals.
  • The start line will remain open with rolling starts, meaning that you can go within the 5-minute range of your start time. Look up your start time and bib here.
  • There will be no pace groups.
  • Masks will be required in the secure zone fencing, you can remove your mask once you cross the start line. Please throw any disposable masks into the trash cans provided.
  • Spectating is discouraged at the start line. Please encourage your spectators to find a place along the course to cheer you on.

  • After you cross the finish and grab your medal and food bag, masks will be required in the secure zone except when taking photos. They will be available for pick up if you do not carry your own on course.
  • The festival and beer garden will be canceled but we will have some photo ops available.

  • Please keep the finish line area clear. Spectators are encouraged to cheer further north of the finish line where there is open spacing. Please use the open street area after the finish line to arrange a meetup point instead of at the secure zone.

Gear Bags

The clear plastic bag you receive at Packet Pickup must be used for your gear check bag.

We will not accept any other bags. Be sure your bib number is printed as largely and clearly as possible on the bag before you turn it into Gear Check on race morning.

Gear Bag Drop Off:

Starting at 5:45 AM you can drop your gear at the moving trucks located just northwest of the start line in the Gateway parking lot. Your gear will then be transported to the gear bag pick-up zone located just south of the finish line.

The event is not responsible for any lost items, so it is recommended to not put in loose valuable items such as car keys, phones, or wallets. Check out Spibelt as an option for carrying these with you on course. If you must put these items in your bag, it is suggested to put them in a larger gallon-sized clear bag within the gear bag.

Gear Bag Pick Up:

Is located at 12th & San Jacinto, south of the finish line. Gear Bags must be picked up by the participant with their bib number. If this is not possible, please visit the information tent before and our staff can help arrange pick up by someone else.

What if I forget my vaccine card/negative test for packet pick up?

  • You will need to have someone send you a picture of your card or test. If this is not possible you will have to return at another time when you can show proof of negative test within 72 hours of the Friday or can bring your vaccine card.

Will I need to wear a mask while running?

  • No. Masks are only required indoors at the expo and while within the designated masks zones at the start and finish line.

Do the shuttle buses have open windows and can someone ride with me?

  • Shuttle buses are limited to participants only this year. We cannot control if the buses have open windows or not.

What does time trial start mean?

  • This means that participants will start in waves. You will be assigned a start time based on your bib number. Only bibs 1-500 will be starting at 7:30. Everyone else will start every 5 minutes with a rolling start. Meaning that if you are there and ready to run you can go ahead and start you do not need to wait for the exact minute of your starting time.

What if I am late and miss my start time?

  • Please try and start in your wave but if you happen to miss your 5-minute window, You can start anytime before the last wave. The start line will close 5 minutes after the last assigned wave time.

Can I change my start time?

  • We cannot change start times as they are part of the Austin Public Health Approved COVID-19 Mitigation Plan to reduce density. Please try and start in your wave but if you happen to miss your 5-minute window, you can start anytime before the last wave. The start line will close 5 minutes after the last assigned wave time.
