Welcome to the Austin International Half Marathon course page! Our unique downhill-to-downtown route offers an exhilarating experience for runners of all levels. The course is designed to showcase Austin’s vibrant neighborhoods while helping you achieve your personal best with its predominantly downhill terrain.
Elevation Profile
Our course features a significant net downhill, providing an excellent opportunity for a fast race time. The declines are complemented by occasional flat stretches, making it a comfortable and enjoyable run.
Mile-by-Mile Breakdown
- Miles 1-3: Begin with a gentle descent from Stonelake Blvd, easing into your pace.
- Miles 4-6: Start the downhill trend, passing through north Austin and pick up speed down Shoal Creek.
- Miles 7-9: After picking up a gel at the BPN Energy Zone, passing through tree-lined streets and bustling local spots.
- Miles 10-13.1: Pass through the iconic University of Texas campus and finish strong with a steady decline leading you straight to the finish line.
- Finish Line: Celebrate with an after party, unique spinner finisher medals, and of course ring the PR Gong!

Aid Stations on Course
Energize Your Race with Supportive Aid Stations
Our aid stations are fully equipped with water and BPN Electrolytes to keep you performing at your best.
Additionally, there will be a BPN Energy Zone before mile 7 offering GO GEL gels.
Water on Course
Each aid station will have water. As part of our sustainability we will use Water Monsters to fill recyclable cups for athletes. Please help keep Austin clean by disposing of your cups in the marked recycling bins or as close to as possible.
Hydration
On Course Hydration
There will be lemon lime electrolyte hydration located at all aid stations throughout the course and will be positioned as the first in the series of tables.
Energy Zones
Runners can look for the energy zone at Mile 7 stocked with BPN GO gels to refuel and boost them through the final miles of the course!

Medical & Restrooms
Each aid station will have Ascension Seton medical personnel with basic first aid. There will be multiple restrooms at each aid station with more at miles 1 and 3.
Course Closure
The Austin International Half course will be open for 4 hours. Participants not maintaining the pace to finish within this time will be directed to get onto the sidewalk by race officials and the finish line will not remain open beyond this finishing time. This is an 18 minute per mile pace.
