The Twenty-Six Two pacers will help you achieve your 3M Half Marathon goals and act as a rolling finish line all the way to the real finish line! They’re here for you, whether your goal is a personal record or simply to cross the finish line. Our Pace Group Leaders are extremely experienced runners and selected based on their previous running and/or pacing performances. They know what it takes to hold a steady pace and provide a great race experience for their “Pace-ees.”
If you have questions, or would like to inquire about being a pacer, email email@example.com.
We will have pace groups for the following finishing times: 1:30, 1:35, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 1:55, 2:00, 2:05, 2:10, 2:15, 2:20
MEET THE PACERS AT THE EXPO
There will be a “Meet the Pacers” area at the expo where you can meet the group and ask questions.
FINDING THE PACERS ON RACE DAY
To meet up with the pacers on race day, look for them next to the “Pace Time” signs in the starting area holding up signs with the finishing times printed on them. They will be wearing Pacer singlets and carrying the pace signs. Try to meet up with your pace group at least 15 minutes before the start of the race.
Five to 10 minutes before the start, your pace group leader will give you their final instructions. This may include any adjustments being made to the pace due to course conditions. This is another great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
WATER STATION PHILOSOPHY
Water station philosophy, regarding whether the pace group will walk or run through it, is up to the pace leader. Each pace leader will let you know their strategy for getting back together after a water stop. Be sure to check with your group leader prior to the start if this is important to you.
WE WANT YOU TO RUN YOUR OWN RACE
If you feel great on race day and want to catch the next group, we’ll cheer you on. If it’s not your day, slow down and wait for the group behind you. And if you want to just fall in and match strides with your pace group leader, we’re sure to appreciate the company!
Meet Your 2023 Pacers
Ted Davison’s running career started many years ago in Zimbabwe as part of his triathlon training. When he went to college in England, Davison completed the London marathon, twice. He has now completed more than 20 marathons, an Ironman triathlon and over 20 ultra-distance races, including Western States 100, Leadville 100, Tahoe Rim Trail, The Bear, Bighorn, and the Tor Des Geants – 330K in Italian Alps. Since moving to Austin in 2001, Davison has run the Austin Marathon and 3M ½ marathon many times and this will be his fifth year being a pacer.
Been running for over 25 years building from marathon distance to ultra running events. Have completed over 30 marathons and ten 100 mile ultra trail races. Over the past 10 years, have paced more races than raced.
I have run 15+ Marathons and twice as many or more halfs and have given up on the counting.
My advice is to run for the wealth of health. As often as you can.
Matt Fletcher began running in 2011 to drop weight, but quickly the addiction took hold. Scenery and lack of cars are the greatest appeal to him when running trails, but Matt maintains a healthy appetite for Austin’s asphalt. Now training with TrailRoots, Matt has finished a couple 100Ks, had his first marathon win at a Lake Georgetown trail race, and has two 2:59 marathons, most recently in Boston. Pacing 3M for the 4th time now lets him give something back to this encouraging running community, and enjoy this downhill racetrack!
Robyn is a veteran pacer of the 3M Half Marathon. She has 40 marathons under her belt, including finishing ten consecutive Boston Marathons and having also paced the Austin Marathon for the past 8 years. He joined Twenty-Six Two Marathon Club in the summer of 2018 and has completed three more marathons since then. Jose takes great pride and joy in pacing, especially the 3M half where he has paced for several years now.
I started running in 2003 with the goal of a completing a single marathon. Soon after, I got hooked, as running helped me stay fit and alleviate work stress. I have been pacing the 3M half-marathons for many years and enjoy helping runners reach their goal. Furthermore, I look forward to doing the same in the Austin Marathon. I enjoy traveling to different locations to run marathons. I have completed 50+ marathons, including all the majors.
I am a local Austin runner who trains with TwentySixTwo. I’ve run one marathon a year for the past 15 years, plus a bunch of halves and shorter runs. This past year I ran Boston in April, and finished in around 3:21. I’ve paced 3M once before, and am looking forward to doing it again.

“I was talked into running my first marathon in college before I knew that ‘marathon training’ was a thing. At the start of the race I was at the front of the pack running 6 min miles feeling great but by the end I could barely walk across the finish line. 26.2 Miles is for real.
I picked up running again as an adult after the birth of my daughter and quickly discovered, as many do, that running long distances in the Texas summer heat is difficult to do without support. I found a great group of friends to run and train with in the Twenty-Six Two Marathon Club and through the club I was afforded the opportunity to pace half marathons in and around Austin.
It is such a privilege for me and I find it so rewarding to pace a group of runners. Whether we are running sub-7 minute miles or 12 minute miles, racing a hilly course like Decker or a downhill course like 3M, helping a group of runners achieve their race goals is such a thrill for me.”
I’ve been running half and full marathons since 2009. 3M is one of my favorite races. It has a great vibe and usually good weather. Looking forward to pacing and running with others whether it’s their first half marathon or their fiftieth.

Katie is a long-time 3M Half Marathon pacer who has completed 50+ half marathons and 25+ marathons, including Boston, New York, Chicago, London, and Berlin. Katie is looking forward to completing her Sixth Abbott Major in Tokoyo in 2023. Katie’s approach to pacing the 3M Half Marathon is to maintain an even pace per mile with adjustments as needed when climbing hills. It’s okay to slow down when running up hill because you can make it up with less effort running down the other side of the hill. Make sure to say hello and introduce yourself when you join Katie’s pace group!
I began running about 13 years ago. I have run one full marathon and about 20 half marathons. 2023 will be my 11th 3M

I started running about 7-8 years ago and I haven’t stopped running since. Having grown up in Austin, races like the 3M Half Marathon are some of my favorites to participate in. In the past couple of years, I have started running more trail and ultra races, but I always love getting to be a part of the 3M Half. I am one of the co-founders of Native Roots ATX, a running and wellness crew that centers Native and Indigenous people. Helping others get connected to the local running community is what it’s all about for me!
Hi all! My name is Shannon and I’ve been an avid runner for a bit over a decade and my knees feel GREAT! I’ve paced numerous half marathons and I’ve run 5 full marathons for recreation…yep…I’m THAT RUNNER. I’ll be pacing the 2:30 finishers with Juanita and we’ll be finishing at 2:29, BE READY!
I am Juanita Bowling a mother to six beautiful boys!! I’ve always been athletic for many years. I have ran 12 full marathons and countless half marathons. If I had to throw a number out there on the half marathons I would say over 100. I’ve also participated in triathlons and in Ultramarathons. My desire and focus has always been on serving others and helping others achieve their goals. I then shifted my focus from running into bodybuilding and I participated in three competitions and finally won third place overall. As life throws obstacles and challenges I had to take a halt. I am ready to jump back into bodybuilding so I can be number one. I will continue running as it’s wonderful overall physically mentally emotionally and spiritually. I look forward to serving you and helping you achieve your goals. To the finish line that is. Happy trails!

I have been running long distances for about 12 years. A friend said, “Hey, want to run a half marathon?” That sounded like a good idea and I’ve been running ever since. I enjoy the challenge of training and sense of accomplishment that comes from completing a race. Running is life!
