Been running for over 25 years building from marathon distance to ultra running events. Have completed over 30 marathons and ten 100 mile ultra trail races. Over the past 10 years, have paced more races than raced.

Leland Mangrum

  • Pace: 7:14 min/mile

I have run 15+ Marathons and twice as many or more halfs and have given up on the counting.

My advice is to run for the wealth of health. As often as you can.

Matt Fletcher

Matt Fletcher began running in 2011 to drop weight, but quickly the addiction took hold. Scenery and lack of cars are the greatest appeal to him when running trails, but Matt maintains a healthy appetite for Austin’s asphalt. Now training with TrailRoots, Matt has finished a couple 100Ks, had his first marathon win at a Lake Georgetown trail race, and has two 2:59 marathons, most recently in Boston. Pacing 3M for the 4th time now lets him give something back to this encouraging running community, and enjoy this downhill racetrack!

Robyn Dodge

Robyn is a veteran pacer of the 3M Half Marathon. She has 40 marathons under her belt, including finishing ten consecutive Boston Marathons and having also paced the Austin Marathon for the past 8 years. Dr Robyn is an archaeologist specializing in ancient Maya prehistory and also certified fitness instructor. Robyn looks forward to pacing the 1:40 group and assisting runners to achieve their goals.

He joined Twenty-Six Two Marathon Club in the summer of 2018 and has completed three more marathons since then. Jose takes great pride and joy in pacing, especially the 3M half where he has paced for several years now.

Frank Hayes

“I was talked into running my first marathon in college before I knew that ‘marathon training’ was a thing. At the start of the race I was at the front of the pack running 6 min miles feeling great but by the end I could barely walk across the finish line. 26.2 Miles is for real.
I picked up running again as an adult after the birth of my daughter and quickly discovered, as many do, that running long distances in the Texas summer heat is difficult to do without support. I found a great group of friends to run and train with in the Twenty-Six Two Marathon Club and through the club I was afforded the opportunity to pace half marathons in and around Austin.
It is such a privilege for me and I find it so rewarding to pace a group of runners. Whether we are running sub-7 minute miles or 12 minute miles, racing a hilly course like Decker or a downhill course like 3M, helping a group of runners achieve their race goals is such a thrill for me.”

Katie’s approach to pacing the 3M Half Marathon is to maintain an even pace per mile with adjustments as needed when climbing hills. It’s okay to slow down when running up hill because you can make it up with less effort running down the other side of the hill.
